Which Foods Are Healthy To Eat?

What is the best healthy eating advice you can give a someone
who is just starting to learn about food? The answer is easy
actually: watch what you eat! Exercise has many benefits,
like increased stamina and energy, but it cannot be the only
answer to the obesity epidemic.

After all, there is no way anyone could work out enough to
burn some of the new products in the market. Foods are
becoming more and more refined and their caloric content is
skyrocketing. Watching what you eat will give you the upper
hand in your battle with the mirror.

Carbohydrates, today seems to be referred to as "carbs". But
it isn't and it shouldn't be. Healthy carbs are a staple of
any nutritional meal. They provide energy for good use and
function, improve skeletal muscle and bone growth and even
better our mood. The problem with sugars is that they are
becoming increasingly common and refined. Juices and sodas
are filled with countless empty calories from sugar that
spike up our metabolisms with insulin only to lead to a
subsequent and abrupt fall.

This sort of foods are fueling an obesity epidemic and are
directly responsible for early-onset diabetes. By causing
havoc on your metabolic rate, they are leading to increases
in weight. In fact insulin stimulates the storage of energy
in fat cells particularly in those problem areas.

So what can be done to change America's addiction to sugars?
Plenty. Make sure you continue to stay informed. Check the
label and search for dangerous ingredients like high
fructose corn syrup. Plus, take away breads, cookies, and
other basic grains. A lot of times, their natural fiber and
complex structures are ripped away.

Go for whole wheat products and always space out your carbs
throughout the day. Some recommend eliminating all carbs
from meals past the evening. Carbs are soothing and
enjoyable but proteins and heathy fats an equally important
option.

Protein and fat are very important in your diet. In fact
your body cannot form all protein enzymes or fat on its own.
Some can only be obtained by diet. When considering meats go
for lean options such as chicken and turkey. Saturated fats
are common in pork and steaks which are easily stored in
your body in fat deposits.

Go for monosaturated fats of the vegetable variety. They are
healthy and their chemical structures make them less likely
to be saved in your body or clog your blood ways. They are
found in avocadoes, olives, vegetable oils and nuts.

Body Language: The Easy Route to Self Improvement

Developing your own potential must start with introspectionand making use of the tools and skills that you already have first. Body Language is something that we already know
instinctively whether we are consciously aware of it or not
and it is very, very powerful.

It is so powerful it can tell us what other people think and
feel about us. It is an incredible fact that only between
7-10% of what we say is actually used to convey a message
and that 60-80% of our meaning is put across in Body
Language. Body language can help us literally read other
people's minds and also ensure that we can convey the
message we want to put across to others.

One place in which Body Language is very important is in the
Job interview situation and this is one area in which using
body language to your advantage could get you that better
job. Based on your body language, an interviewer may
straight away know whether you are confident or not, if you
are a shy or friendly type, a team player or a loner, or
even if you are telling the truth or not.

A skilled interviewer will ask questions and not only listen
to the spoken answer but also the way it is said. By using
Body language you can choose how you want to come across and
also decode the body language of your interviewer in relation
to your own body language to see their reaction to your
responses.

Are you crossing your arms? Don't. This might be perceived
as a defensive move. Just place your hands loosely on your
lap or just put them on the armrest of your chair. By doing
this, you will also be able to make hand movements to
support what you are saying. The interviewer would think
that you are comfortable with the interview process if you
make hand gestures.

Be alert to unintentional gestures that you may make
sometimes due to tension such as biting your nails or
shuffling your feet.

This is only one area in which Body Language knowledge is
useful, it is used in just about every area of human
interaction. In the work situation or office, having the
skill of understanding body language will allow you access
situations quicker and better than those around you.

If you wish to convey a message with a particular meaning,
body language can help you underline it whether you want to
come across with more gravitas or even as more
approachable.

Understanding Body Language is a relatively untapped skill
that we all have, we know elements but are not necessary
'fluent' in it. We have a grounding in it, in a similar way
we may have speaking basic French or Spanish but it
literally can do nothing more that get us directions to the
train station. Our knowledge of Body Language must therefore
be developed and practiced in the same way but it is already
something we know but we just don't know why.

To learn to understand it fluently you need to spend more
time and effort studying.

Magnesium Toxicity in the Body

While studying the different forms of magnesium supplements,I was surprised by the number of people who thought theymight be suffering from magnesium toxicity. Even thoughstudies have shown that many people are actually sufferingfrom an unknown magnesium deficiency, many people thoughtthe opposite, that they might be suffering from magnesium
toxicity. Suffering from magnesium toxicity is very
improbable for healthy persons, and really only generally
happens with persons who have a kidney malfunction of some
kind. So if you're thinking that you might be suffering from
magnesium toxicity, definitely get your kidneys checked out.
Of course, taking high doses of a magnesium supplement, much
more than the recommended daily intake can cause magnesium
toxicity, but that should be obvious to most people.

There is an instance where magnesium toxicity can arise in
an otherwise healthy individual. Some laxatives as well as
antacids contain high levels of magnesium. If you take high
doses of either and are suspecting that you have magnesium
toxicity, either stop taking the supplements altogether in
lieu of others that don't contain magnesium, or else rotate
other supplements into your diet that don't contain
magnesium.

Magnesium is an absolutely essential element to the body. In
order to maintain healthy teeth and bones, there needs to be
a balance between magnesium and calcium. Having an
overabundance of magnesium doesn't really interfere with
healthy teeth and bones, but having too little is a definite
cause of bone deficiency. In many reports, there is a direct
correlation between countries that have the worst calcium to
magnesium ratio, and instances of bone dysfunction like
osteoporosis. Magnesium is also very therapeutic. I've taken
it myself to help battle insomnia, and it's very effective.
It also relaxes the muscles and soothes the body, promoting
a general state of ease.

Magnesium has also been called a life saving drug. An expert
friend recently informed me of his personal experience with
magnesium, how it powerfully halted seizures within 30
seconds of intake, and how on the labels of some powerful
medications it instructed that magnesium should be
administered intravenously as a last resort, if all else
failed. So as you can see, magnesium is a very useful
element in the human body, very well regulated by the
kidneys and other organs. Experiencing magnesium toxicity is
pretty unlikely, so if you're suspecting that you're
experiencing it, you should consult a physician immediately,
because your condition might be a rare and serious one.

But to be thorough, lets list a few specific symptoms that
have been linked to magnesium toxicity. Some of the
symptoms are pretty general overall, and apply to many
different types of ailments.

1) Generalized Weakness -- Both in the muscles and in the
bones.
2) Sleepiness -- Fatigue and sleepiness are often
associated.
3) Very Low Blood Pressure.
4) Chronic Diarrhea.
5) Shortness of Breath

Magnesium toxicity is a much more rare condition than
magnesium deficiency. Most of the time, people actually
have an unknown deficiency rather than a toxicity.
According to the National Academy of Sciences, most
Americans are deficient in magnesium, among other possible
deficiencies. Magnesium is an element that's very prevalent
in the body, and toxicity will only occur through a specific
set of circumstances. However, if you think you might be
experiencing magnesium toxicity, definitely consult a
physician, as your condition might be both rare and serious.

5 Things You Can Do To Lower Your Cholesterol Naturally

Cholesterol has become a problem for so many people in the
world. It can cause issues when a person develops heart
problem. So, it's important to control its levels because it
can take your life. Now, cardiologists have even suggested
that people, who are more than 20 years old, should be
checked for artery blocking levels once in half a decade. If
some people have heart diseases in the family, then the
frequency of this check up should be even more. But, the
danger levels also depend on the kind of cholesterol that
you have in the body. It's tough to control the levels of
bad cholesterol rather than good cholesterol. The levels of
good cholesterol can be controlled by making simple changes
in the lifestyle. A faster reduction can be brought out by
drug therapies. Drug therapies can control the cholesterol
in a time period of 6 weeks only.

Even use of lower saturated fat can also cause reduction of
cholesterol in the body. Such saturated sources are eggs and
foods which contain cholesterol in large amounts. Such foods
include red meat and butter. Exercise is the best way to get
rid of high cholesterol.

Patients can also decrease cholesterol by consuming more
vegetables and fruits. It's because such substances include
whole grains which contain antioxidants. They can help in
the reduction of cholesterol. In fact, such fiber can help
in sucking up the built cholesterol levels in the body. Many
sources of fibers like oats, barley are responsible for
decreasing such cholesterol levels.

Although some of the people feel quite sad when they hear
about their high cholesterol levels, they can make an
analysis of many factors before reducing it. The reduction
also depends on many kinds of factors which include smoking,
diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. Such risk factors
make you more susceptible to a heart disease. Even if this
disease is a part of the family's legacy, then you are more
likely to contract it. So, the doctors can recognize your
risk of getting this disease after analyzing all these
factors. So, doctors advise a quicker reduction when they
find about such factors. They can ask for a reduction in the
LDL to 70. But, the figure won't be much low if you are not
vulnerable towards the disease. So, the LDL reduction can be
only till 130.

Although lifestyle modifications can also bring about the
changes, it's better to opt for drugs. It's because drugs
can cause a faster depletion of the cholesterol levels.
There are many kinds of drugs which can induce a reduction
in the level of cholesterol. So, although any person should
try to reduce his smoking habits and lose weight they
however can't bring out much change in the cholesterol
levels. Such changes are sufficient only for people who
don't have much high cholesterol levels, for others using
drugs is important. Some kinds of medications which can
cause reduction in the levels of cholesterol are niacin,
fibrates and bile acid resins. Such medicine s can cause
great reduction s especially statins which can produce
changes by 20 to 50 %.

Dealing With Stains

Oh no. You just knew it was going to happen. Gravity(spills), momentum (splatters), an inquisitive child or someother force of nature has stepped in and now you've got someterrible stain on some precious item.  Now what are yougoing to do?Well, the first thing you are going to do is to act
immediately. The sooner you tackle a stain, the better. If
you put it off, the stain will have a chance to set and then
you will never get it out. Exactly how you deal with a stain,
however, depends on what sort of stain it is.

Grass stains.

What fool decided that cricket should be played in white? If
you have a cricketer in your household, you will have to
remove grass stains from white clothes at some
stage. If you're lucky, your cricketer will wear
synthetics, which don't take stains well. You are lucky -
wash as normal. For cotton, however, you will need to attack
the stain. White clothes can be soaked in chlorine bleach
(not the greenest solution, I'll admit, but it works) or in
a nappy whitening solution. For coloured clothing or for
smaller grass stains, spot-treat with methylated spirits or
white spirits and leave for a few minutes before washing as
normal.

Beetroot and tomato sauce.

These tend to wash out without too much hassle, as long as
you get onto it soon. They're bright, but if you wash them
as soon as possible, all will be well. The same applies to
curries with turmeric.

Blood.

Every woman will have to deal with bloodstains at some stage
in her life for obvious monthly reasons. Soaking in cold
water as soon as possible is the answer - overnight soaking
can remove bloodstains completely. Never wash in hot water,
or even warm water, as this will set the stain in. The same
applies to egg.

Tar and bitumen.

So little Billy has decided that the gooey black stuff
oozing out from the tarmac or chipseal looks tempting and
it's all over his shirt when he tried to wash it off.
Bitumen and tar used in road surfacing is soluble in
kerosene, so spot-treat the garment in this before washing.
You may need to attack the stain with a scrubbing brush or
fingernail to get bulky bitumen off.

Wax.

In the Norse fairy tale "East of the Sun and West of the
Moon," the heroine won her prince off a troll because she
knew how to wash candle wax off a white shirt. The first
thing you should do is to let the wax dry in a bead. Then
pick it off with your fingernails. After that, cover the
spot top and bottom with paper towels or toilet paper and
apply a hot iron. The melted wax will soak into the paper
towels. Then wash as normal.

Tempera paint (as used in kindergartens and primary
schools).

Act immediately - if this dries, getting it off is next to
impossible. Soak in cold water with NO DETERGENT. Learn from
your mistake and make sure your child wears a paint shirt
and/or old clothes next time.

Fall is High Season for Fly Fishing in Colorado

Like mammals, the fish are fattening up for the winter and
fly fishing at altitude is considered high season. This is
because the streams are less crowded and the weather has
cooled. Children are back at school and summer getaways are
a distant memory.

The koakanee salmon make their way upstream to spawn. Brown
trout also spawn in the fall, so take care not to disturb
the spawning fish that they take on brilliant color prior to
spawning, similar in color to Colorado's brilliant fall show
of leaves. After spawning, browns need to feed constantly to
regain their strength.

Be sure to pack dry flies. Match the hatch with fall BWO's,
tricos, midges, and caddis flies. Have nyumphs ready for
large trout feeding under the surface. A dead-on combo is a
small egg pattern with a variety of small nymphs trailed
behind.

Denver fly fishing expert, Tucker Ladd names the 5 top
rivers for fly-fishing in early autumn: South Platte River
at Dream Stream, Eagle River, Colorado River at Parshal,
Williams Fork below Williams Fork Reservoir and the Blue
River below Dillion Reservoir. But wherever you go in the
Rocky Mountains, you can't go wrong. For fly fishing
conditions, weather is predicted to be especially favorable
this fall.

If you want to learn to maximize your day on the river,
outfitters offer courses for all experience levels. Courses
start with Fly Fish 101 "Introduction to Fly Fishing" to Fly
Fishing 220 "Learning the Moffitt Angling System," a one-day
class that begins in the classroom and ends on the water. It
demonstrates and teaches how to maximize the "flies in the
water" time by using the Moffitt Angling System which works
using unique variables: fish-multiple flies to triple the
odds of a strike. Only one knot is required to minimize your
time spent getting ready to cast and the barbless circle hook
is a quick release, and the Moffitt contact leader is
designed to minimize the drag by sinking fast. This contact
leader also eliminates the need for weight, significantly
reducing hang-ups on the river bottom. The Moffitt Angling
system is very effective, but it must be used with caution
and is not recommended for beginners.

18.2 million people fly fish, according to the Outdoor
Industry Foundation Survey: 65% are males 35% are females 18
average outings a year 25% are age 16-24 26% are 25-34 9% are
35-44 40% are 45+ 30% have a household income of less than
$40k 38% have a household income of $40k-$80k 32% have a
household income of $80k+.

Taking a Stand Against Heart Disease

The number one cause of the death in the United States is
from cardiovascular disorders. It is not just a problem for
men. It is the number one cause of death in women, too.
There are things that you can do to take a stand against
heart disease. Here are some things to consider.

Eat better

This is often said, but the right diet can make a big
difference. The wrong diet can be lethal. You do not have to
avoid all of your favorite foods. That may be too difficult.
Make an effort to eat better. Incorporate more fresh fruits
and vegetables in your daily diet. Fresh fruits and
vegetables can have a positive effect on your entire
cardiovascular system. You can lower blood cholesterol, this
way.

You do not have to give up fat. Substitute good fats for bad
fats. Try to avoid saturated fats, if you can. Do not eat
fast foods on a regular basis. If you do, make healthy
choices. You can buy salads and other meat like fish, for
example. The fast food industry is becoming more aware of
proper nutrition. They are offering more and more, better
choices. However, it is still up to you to make those
choices.

Think of your kids

Someone has to set an example for the kids. This is true if
your kids are grown. Do you want to spend quality time with
your grandchildren? You need to take steps to ensure that
you will be there to spoil them. Grandparents are an
important part of children lives. Do not deprive them of the
pleasure.

Exercise

You do not have to join a fitness club. You will not have to
enter important marathons. Get out and walk more often. You
will do your entire system a great deal of good. There is a
reason that they call walking a cardiovascular exercise.
Exercise can help to increase your good cholesterol. If you
do not want to walk outside, buy an inexpensive treadmill.
After you buy the equipment, you have to use it. It is not
for throwing clothing items on. Keep it uncovered and use it
regularly. Put it in front of the television. The time will
pass much quicker this way.

Supplements

If you cannot eat fish regularly, take fish oil supplements.
Omega3 fatty acids are important to cardiovascular health.
Does fish oil bother you? Take flax seed oil. There are many
good supplements that you can take. But they cannot work on
their own. You need to help them.
