Orange Juice Cake Recipe

What you need

2 cups flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup boiling water
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1 grated orange peel
Juice of 1 orange
2 / 3 cup sugar


How to do

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sift the flour, baking powder and baking soda together. Set aside until needed.

Prepare a 9 x 13 inch cake pan with light grease and sprinkle it over. Set aside until needed.

Cream together shortening, sugar, add eggs one at a time while beating after each. Gradually add dry ingredients and milk, alternating between them. Mix well to combine.

Mix in a medium bowl the chopped dates and boiling water and stir in the chopped nuts and grated orange peel. Add this mixture into cream mixture, then mix well to combine.

Pour into the prepared tin and then into the preheated oven to bake room for about 35 to 40 minutes or until tender.

Mix orange juice and remaining sugar until icing on the cake to prepare. Remove the cake from the oven and pour the orange glaze over the warm cake. Let cake cool before slicing and serving.
