More Ways to Live Clutter-Free

Do you just have too much clutter weighing you down, so that
you feel unable to deal with the important things in life?
Our minds and our homes often reflect each other. Clutter
in one means clutter in both.

While it is nearly impossible to escape clutter, what can
you do to manage the clutter that builds up in your home?
Schedules, routines, those words that some people who think
of themselves as free spirits don't like to hear. And then
there are others who take them to an extreme! However,
simple routines when consistently followed are the way to
get rid of your clutter and maintain your home.

Marla, Kelly, and the ladies at FlyLady.net understand the
challenges that come between you and a clean home, but they
start you off with simple baby steps that won't overwhelm
the most free-spirited among us. To go along with an
uncomplicated Bedtime Routine, they help you get going on
the right foot and in a positive direction in the morning
also:

- Shower, make-up, brush teeth, and get dressed, including
your shoes.
- Swish the toilet & swipe off the bathroom counter &
mirror. The bathroom is clean and you don't have to think
about it again the rest of the day.
- Make your bed.
- Check to see if the laundry needs attention. Go straight
to the washer and put it in. Then remember to put it in the
dryer too!
- Empty the dishwasher
- Feed the family (don't forget yourself!)
- Check your calendar: where are you going today? Any
appointments?
- Think: What's For Dinner? Thaw something if you need to,
but the important part is to just get it in your head so
it's not a complete surprise at 5:00 p.m.

That's it for a basic start to your morning! You can change
the order of things to suit your lifestyle, and feel free to
add more items or even take away one or two if they don't fit
your life. Just remember that feeling productive is one of
the best ways to start your day.

If you find that these steps are just a little too much, you
can make it even simpler: Get dressed right to your shoes,
swish and swipe to keep the bathroom ready for the day, and
check your calendar. You'll be ready for more as you get a
handle on these simple first steps.

Henry Ford once said, "Before everything else, getting ready
is the secret of success."

Doesn't that sound like a good idea?
