Selection of this ham cooking technique

Ham is basically just the hind leg of pork. And "the treatment that we want to return the pork ham leg. However, there are so many processing means that a visit to the supermarket can be confusing.

For our purposes, we want a ham that not only taste good but it is also easy to use.

Check the labels at the supermarket. It will show the water content. The decrease in water content of the ham will be better tasting.

A ham labeled "natural juice ham" is the best.

Stay away from hams labeled "Ham - water added," because they have 12-15 percent of water added. Even worse is the "Ham and water product" that can have up to 35 percent added water.

Boneless or not? Well boned would certainly be easier to use, but the bone just tastes better. Bone requires more treatment and it seems that the worst is drawing more!

A whole ham tends to be massive, weighing about 15 pounds. Thus, for manageability, more and more cut in half and sold two pieces, the butt and shank.

Whole hams have a hard carve around the bone structure. This structure is difficult to sit in the middle. The half-shaft has a single bone to navigate. And if it is cut in a spiral all the better.

If half or in full, however, the differences in the best hams in the supermarket down the bones, if any, were removed and the amount of water, if present, was added.

So we compromise. A bone, cut into spiral stick fully cooked half ham natural juices is my choice.
