lets learnhow to make yummy German cookies

This is my all-time favorite German cookie recipes. In Germany, these cookies are known as "Ausstecherle". Usually made at Christmas time, cash is flexible enough to be used all year-round, so why limit this delicious treat to just a few weeks of the year?

In each household supply stores or Christmas, you can buy cookie cutters made of metal or plastic. Available in shapes like stars, boots, Santa Claus and others, can be carved figures from dough. For seasonal figures such as rabbits, Easter eggs, hearts for Valentine's Day or Halloween witches around the cookies and have a great homemade gift idea for a holiday all year round.

This is the recipe for the dough me by no less an authority than the cookies my mother:

Ingredients:

500 grams flour

250 grams butter or margarine

250 grams of sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon rum

a package of vanilla sugar
(If not available, use the vanilla extract and a little more sugar in the dough to add)

For the garnish:

2 egg yolks, beaten up in vain
colored sugar sprinkles or chopped almonds
cookie cutters in the shape of your choice

1. For the dough:

Bring the butter or margarine at room temperature to soften. Cut the butter or margarine into small pieces and place in a mixing bowl. Beat until it is creamy. Add half the sugar and beat on. Add the remaining sugar, eggs, vanilla and rum. Stay right. Add flour a little at a time while stirring until a stiff dough is formed. Once dough is too firm for the mixer to handle, knead the dough by hand.

2.Directions for numbers (Ausstecherle):

Using rolling pin, roll dough out to about half centimeter (1 / 5 of an inch) thick. Make sure you flour the surface you are going to work, so dough does not stick.

3.Grease baking sheet, you will use it soon now.
Use a cookie cutter and cut a figure. Place cookies on baking sheet. To prevent cookies from stabbing the cutter and set aside a small amount of flour in a bowl and dip the cutter in flour between cutting each cookie.

4.To decorating and baking:

Beat two egg yolks, then brush numbers (Ausstecherle) with them. Decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles Ausstecherle chopped almonds.
Bake for about 15 minutes Ausstecherle in a preheated oven at 175 ° C (350 F) in the middle rack.

This recipe makes enough dough for two or three molds (50-70 pieces), depending on the size of your cookie cutters. The dough can be rolled back and rekneaded until all used up.

Their taste best fresh from the oven! Enjoy the taste at any time of year!
