Baking cookies for Christmas is great fun

As children, the elderly, we all love cookies. This is probably one of the favorite dessert of people of all ages. And while the cookies are absolutely wonderful throughout the year, there's just nothing like the few days before Christmas, when mom started making Christmas cookies. It is a time of year, when the cookies to take on a whole new meaning.
Christmas is a magical time, especially for children. We all eagerly gather around to set up the Christmas tree. No tinsel and ornaments enough to our masterpiece of nature to cover. And after the trees are trimmed and we eagerly await Santa Claus, what should we do? We put a plate of Christmas cookies for Santa to him on his way out. Of course what we tell our kids are in the middle of the night awake, nibble on cookies and leave just enough crumbs so that kids know that Santa was there.
Then of course there are Christmas Day and the next week when we have about 6 cans treat goodies. This is our reason for cookies for breakfast, lunch, dinner and every opportunity we get during the day. Snack time takes on a whole new meaning during the Christmas season. How about cookies? How many different types you think there are? Well, there are probably more kinds of Christmas cookies than you can imagine.
Of course there are your traditional Christmas cookie shapes. These come in the form of candy canes, Santas, stars and just about any shape that you can associate with the Christmas period. The cookies themselves are made of different components. You have your old ordinary sugar cookies, chocolate, nuts, cinnamon and the list goes on. Most cookies are made from molds that you can buy just about any store baking goods. They are quite common.
Then there is not your traditional Christmas cookies. This is where people are a little more creative, yet add that Christmas touch. These can range from something as simple as a drop cookie with jelly glue in the center with something as complex as the ever popular cookie seven layers, mainly consisting of chocolate. These cookies are placed on a diabetic in a coma, but they are definitely good.
The fact is, the type of cookies you can make at Christmas time is only limited by your imagination. And if you got a lot of small children at home, you're quite a bit of imagination. Nobody wants the same old Candy Cane cookies day after day to eat.So make sure at least 5 or 6 different varieties of cookies as you want to keep everyone happy. After all, a happy family is what Christmas is all about. Yes, Christmas is a magical time and Christmas cookies are a big part of that magic.
