Using A Heart Rate Monitor While Running

There are many people that just do not understand how to pace themselves when they are running. As you are running it is important that you take the time to understand how you are going to push your body.
First, you want to make sure that you understand what your maximum heart rate is. There are a lot of people that do not understand what their maximum heart rate is and do not realize that they should be using their heart rate as a gauge.

For some runners a certain speed will be optimal for running and for others a different speed will be optimal. You want to make sure that you are not using speed to gauge your workout but instead you should be using your own heart rate. If you are running on a treadmill be sure to find the perfect speed for you.

While you are calculating your heart rate you want to make sure that you have a correct formula. A very basic formula that can be used when you are determining what your maximum heart rate is, is to simply take your age and subtract it from 220.

While you are running you should be sure that your heart rate does not exceed 70 percent of your maximum heart rate. While you are taking the time to get into running you will want to follow this rule of thumb.

You should also make sure that you understand that doctors say when you are participating in aerobic training that your heart rate should be about sixty to seventy percent of your maximum heart rate. This means you will have to take your heart rate while running.

When you are running you may find that it is too difficult to take your heart rate. You want to be sure that you are taking the time to understand how you are going to monitor your heart rate without actually having to slow down and take your own heart rate.

You should be sure that you understand that you are going to have to have a heart rate monitor. You want to find a heart rate monitor that is comfortable and that you can easily read while you are out running.

When you are running with a heart rate monitor on you have to make sure that you pay attention to the monitor. It must be worn properly so it can get an adequate read and you have to understand how you are going to watch it throughout your run.

You should also make sure that you are taking the time to understand when your heart rate should be higher. Making sure that you understand what is appropriate is necessary for the way that you train.

Finally, you should understand that you have to listen to your body throughout this entire process. You need to understand if your body is sending your warning signs to ensure that you are able to take care of your body to the best of your ability and not do any harm while you are running to increase your level of health.
