PS3 Repair at Home

If you're reading this post then you probably already know that PS3 stands for PlayStation 3, a games console produced by the electronics giant, Sony of Japan. If you own one of these consoles, then you may have encountered some problems and rather than take your kit back to the shop, do your PS3 repair at home.
There are a few known issues with this equipment and it's quite possible to do PS3 repair at home. Here are some of the problems regularly encountered by PS3 owners.

Startup error ID 80029752. Naughty, naughty; you have shared your content without paying for an additional licence. To fix this, you need to get whoever you shared the content with to delete it from their system; your version should start to work again, if not immediately then within a day or so.

No picture because you changed from HDMI to composite cable without changing the settings. To do this PS3 repair, you'll need to switch off the unit. You'll see a red light and which point you need to press the on button until the unit fires up and you hear a beep.

PS3 can't read disks. This could be because the blu-ray lens needs cleaning which you can easily do with a disk cleaner. If the lens is broken, you will need to call Sony to arrange a repair. If the PS3 is still within its warranty period then all will be well, but if not, it will cost you around $150 for the unit to be repaired and wait four weeks for it to be returned.

Power light shows yellow probably due to overheating. Unfortunately, this means the same costly fix as above, i.e. return the unit to Sony.

The controller is not syncing with the PS3. Turn off the controller so that there are no lights on it, then push in the little button on the bottom of the controller using a pen or other small pointed object. This is the reset function and will enable syncing. Depending on the make of controller the button may be elsewhere; check your manual.

If you had a PS1 or PS2, you may find that the games don't work on the PS3. Download any system updates to correct this.

Alternatively, there is a guide available, together with videos, which will show you how to do PS3 repair on disc errors, YLOD, freeze ups, error codes, black screen, red screen and more.
