Finding A Useful And Effective Migraine Cure

Migraines have become a quite ordinary neurological disorder commonly seen in people all around the world. It is often mistaken as a normal headache by those who are not very aware of this disorder. But unlike ordinary headaches, it requires special treatment and care. It is much more painful than normal headaches and renders a person incapable of doing any work for some time.

Apart from the intense headache, the attack of a migraine may be accompanied by several other symptoms like dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and blurred vision. The patient may feel pain around the neck or in the abdomen. There is usually loss of appetite and the person may feel extremely weak and may have high body temperature. Extreme sensitivity towards strong light and any type of sound or smell is developed.

Many factors may be responsible for migraines. Today's fast and hectic lifestyle is one of the principal reasons for stress, which in turn may lead to migraines. After a strenuous day at work, sudden rest disturbs the central nervous system and it may start to produce pain. Hormonal fluctuations, irregular sleeping patterns, faulty food habits or too much smoking are also known to trigger migraine pain.

There is nothing as such that will bring about a migraine cure. But there are ways to curb the pain and decrease the frequency of attack. The treatment is a lifelong process and medicines are prescribed by specialists only after thorough checkups. The medicines used are mainly of two kinds - prophylactic, which is taken daily to lessen the rate and severity of the attacks and abortive, which is taken only when the headache starts.

Besides the regular intake of prescribed medicines certain changes in lifestyle also help in migraine cure. It is good to develop healthy eating habits and avoid taking on too much stress. It is advised to have at least 8 hours of sound sleep in a dark and calm room. Meditation, light workouts and relaxation techniques will also help. Light and fresh meals in small quantities are good for migraine patients.

There are certain home remedies which may provide a safe and effective migraine cure with absolutely no or minimal side effects. Concentrated juices of grapes, cucumber, carrot or beetroot are known to ease headaches. Regular intake of chamomile tea is known to reduce the frequency of attacks. Massaging the forehead with primrose oil or lemon rind may relieve the throbbing pain.

Try to identify the reasons which set off headaches and avoid these circumstances in the future. Aromatherapy using certain ingredients like sandalwood, lavender, eucalyptus, and peppermint are very effective in doing away with the throbbing. It is wise to avoid direct sunlight, strong light or loud noise as they may set off the pain immediately. Proper medication along with natural therapy and lifestyle modification is the best way to control migraines.
